McTeach: A Lifetime of LearningLearning to live our lives takes all of our lives. We never stop learning just as we never stop living, right up until the moment we draw our last breath. Former President Bill Clinton had a message in some of his early speeches that conveyed the idea that most of us were going to be changing careers several times over the course of our lives. I think that is true. Lifetime learning means not stopping by dropping out of high school, or by graduating high school, or with some college, etc. Whether we attend a formal school and collect sheepskins or devise our own lifetime learning plan of reading and study, it takes effort to keep learning and growing. There's a story that when Albert Einstein died an autopsy of his brain was performed to see if there was any phisical evidence of what caused him to be so brilliant. Scientists found a pink, flexible brain that looked like the brain of a far younger man. Einstein kept using flexing his mind for his entire life, and the physical evidence of that work remained after his death. This site is devoted to that same goal for all of us. It is never too early or too late to learn new information, or to maintain an open and flexible mind. This page was last updated on October 26, 2007 |
